The main objectives of the project were (i) identification, mapping and analysis of the ECO-Zone of the Recreational and Tourism Development area of Vajreshari, Ganeshpuri and Akloli in the Tansa Geothermal Zone and (ii) preparation of environmental strategies for the Geothermal Zone towards informing planning process.
The project scope included:
- The Preparation of the Ecological Base Map including; the topography and water courses in the region; vegetation, flora and fauna; patterns of geothermal activity; land-use pattern; and settlement characteristics in the area.
- Identification of environment threats which involved identification of environmentally fragile areas, identification of exiting incongruent activities and, potential and challenges due to the RTD status;
- Formulation of strategies for environmental protection.
